The prosecutor's office has developed a largely negative reputation over the last fifty years due to various allegations of corruption. Manfred von Karma, who started a legendary career with a perfect win record in 1976, was one particular target of such allegations, which included rumors of back-alley deals, forged evidence and rigged witness testimonies. His student, Miles Edgeworth, described the man as willing to do anything for a guilty verdict. However, no solid proof of these allegations existed, partly because of the great influence and connections that von Karma wielded in the justice system due to his prestige. Consequently, von Karma gained only praise within the prosecutor's office, earning him numerous King of Prosecutors Trophies over the years.
However, the prosecutor's main job is in having a suspect arrested for the investigated crime, building a case against said suspect using the collected evidence, and then presenting the case against the defendant in their subsequent trial.
However, the incident did lead to Miles Edgeworth reevaluating his role as a prosecutor so that, instead of perfection, he instead pursued the truth entirely.
All this began to change in 2001, when defense attorney Gregory Edgeworth managed to prove the questionable nature of some of von Karma's evidence and methods. The prosecutor received the only penalty in his long career for this, and he later opportunistically murdered Edgeworth in what would come to be known as the DL-6 Incident. Von Karma then adopted Edgeworth's son Miles and raised both him and his own daughter Franziska to become ruthless prosecutors like him. Due to von Karma's training, Miles Edgeworth became just as cold, valuing a "perfect trial" more than finding out the truth, and the reputation of the prosecutor's office continued to plummet.
The case would not be put to rest until two years later, when Gant was exposed as the one behind the murder of Neil Marshall, the final victim of SL-9. Von Karma's murder of Gregory Edgeworth did not come to light until 15 years after the fact, when defense attorney Phoenix Wright figured out what had happened.
The Ace Prosecutor series consists of eight current projects. All entries in this series are currently incomplete, but the first case is available for playtesting. Names may be subject altered in the future.
Phoenix Wright hasn't caught the cold from Trials and Tribulations . Dahlia hasn't been able to poison Mr. Wright with cold medicine, so he never had to meet Mia Fey as his defense attorney. Because of this, events played out differently to the official canon.

Gaspen and Winston Payne. Advertisement. The brothers Payne are actually as much as a staple to the Ace Attorney series as Phoenix is. In fact, they’ve been the first opponents to Phoenix, Apollo, and Athena. Not to mention, they were a part of Mia Fey’s (Phoenix’s mentor) life as well in one case.
A prosecutor and rock star, Klavier is easily the purest of the rival prosecutors. He seeks only the truth, no strings attached…no pun attended. This is evidenced early on when, in his first meeting with Apollo, he deduced how the true criminal did the crime, and then helped Apollo prove it as well.
What made him unique right off the bat wasn’t his look, it was that he was a convicted murderer, and yet was allowed to still prosecute in a court of law.
Thankfully for all fans, Edgeworth has always been close. In fact, he’s only not appeared in one Ace Attorney game, Apollo Justice. However, he is the only character to be featured in a spinoff game for the Ace Attorney series, Ace Attorney Investigations, which got two games ironically enough.
Aside from Phoenix, and even more so in some ways, Miles Edgeworth is the most fleshed out character in Ace Attorney series. He started as a friend to Phoenix in their childhood, but then became a rival, then an ally, to a changed man, to finally Chief Prosecutor as revealed by Dual Destinies.
3. Franziska Von Karma. The daughter of Manfred Von Karma proved to be one of the biggest highlights in Ace Attorney ‘s second title: Justice For All. She is a prodigy in every aspect of the word, as she earned her prosecutor status at the age of 13 in Germany when she passed the bar–that’s one smart teen.
