Profession. Gray Tollison (b. September 8, 1964) is a former Republican member of the Mississippi State Senate , representing District 9 from 1996 to 2020. From 1996 to November 2011, Tollison served as a member of the Democratic Party.
He ran unopposed in the primary on August 2, 2011 and was to face Todd Wade (R) in the general election on November 8, 2011. However, Wade was removed from the ballot in mid-September by the state Election Commission for failing to be a qualified elector of the state for four years.
From 1996 to November 2011, Tollison served as a member of the Democratic Party. On November 10, 2011, two days after being re-elected as a Democrat, Tollison announced his switch to the Republican Party.

Prior to being appointed to the circuit court, Tollison served in the Mississippi State Senate for six terms from 1996 to 2019, representing District 9. During his time in the Senate, Tollison held many roles, including Chairman of the Constitution Committee, the Judiciary Division B Committee and President Pro Tempore of the Senate.
Judge Tollison joins Judge Kelly Luther in the 3rd Circuit Court District. A replacement for Judge John Gregory, who also retired on June 30, has not been appointed.
