I played the game ^-^ I think that the main reason why it's rated M is the the bloody cut-scenes that they show. Well, it's a lot more, realistic and they happen to be more gory compared to any of the previous games (the old games didn't have cut-scenes so yeah) I've never experienced any sort of bad language or cursing, never ever.

Why is dual destinies mature? Without spoiling too much, the reason Dual Destinies has an M rating is because of situation in the last case of the game that touches on the subject of « matricide. » For those of you unaware, matricide is the term of killing one's mother.Feb 26, 2022

Well, the series has always had blood and depicted violence. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney had some swears in it, I guess. All of the prior games in the series have been rated T.

The ESRB called out "interactive sequences that allow players to stab creatures close-up (e.g., cutting off creatures' limbs/torsos; stabbing monsters in the eye)," and that "enemies emit splashes of blood when struck, and some enemies burst into pieces when killed.".
In fact, Dual Destinies will also carry a more restrictive rating in Japan – it's the only game in the series to have that country's "C" rating (15 and up). It's rated for players 16 and up in Europe – again higher than any previous game. But the rise in ratings on Nintendo 3DS isn't just limited to Dual Destinies.
