The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles on Switch pre-orders begin, including in Japan where PS4 physical edition options are available. This past week's announcement of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles was well-received by Phoenix Wright fans who have been hoping for localizations since 2015.
However, we don't know more than that currently. Considering the (likely working title) name given in the Capcom documents, Ace Attorney 7 is believed to be set after Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice, which came out in 2016. That involved us visiting the Kingdom of Khura'in, seeing the return of Maya Fey.
The official price of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is $39.99. An imported version for PS4 from Japan is similarly priced, but could cost more than $20 to ship overseas. As for the Ace Attorney Turnabout Collection combo pack, it costs closer to $70, with another $20 necessary for shipping.
This past week's announcement of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles was well-received by Phoenix Wright fans who have been hoping for localizations since 2015. But another facet of the Ace Attorney fandom was also excited.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy was sold both physically and digitally in Japan. Unfortunately, it will only be offered on the eShop in both North America and Europe. If that's something you're disappointed about, you can purchase a physical copy from Play-Asia here.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice, the fifth and sixth mainline games in the series (sorry, Miles and Prof. Layton) were released in the West in 2013 and 2016 as digital-only, 3DS-only games.
At one point, Capcom were exploring the possibility of giving Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies a physical release in the west, but this is no longer the case, says series producer Motohide Eshiro.
"The reason we are releasing the game as digital only is not primarily due to a lack of retail support," he said in a recent interview. "One of the main reasons we went for a digital version is it wil be more convenient for the users.
To follow a chronological order while still keeping in line with the way these games were meant to be played, you would play them like this: 1. The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures 2. The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve 3. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 4.
The big news is that the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS eShops will be officially closing down on March 27, 2023. This means that users will have just under a year to purchase or claim any and every Wii U and 3DS title they want to get their hands on.

Now pre-orders are open, but some fans may be left disappointed. While The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is now available for pre-order at online retailers, it's also now confirmed that only the Nintendo Switch version of the game is receiving a physical edition of the game.
For fans of Phoenix Wright on PS4 that absolutely must have a physical edition, there is one alternative. Capcom is releasing a physical edition of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles in Japan, which should be region-free and with English localization options. There's also a combo pack Ace Attorney Turnabout Collection for both PS4 and Switch ...

Alternatively, Ace Attorney 7 could've been pushed back so it doesn't clash with Great Ace Attorney. Until Capcom officially confirms it though, we'll have to wait for further details.
