Prosecuted misdemeanor domestic violence/child endangerment jury trial to verdict. Drafted and argued trial and pretrial motions (oppositions to motions to suppress, oppositions to motions to dismiss, etc.), conducted preliminary hearings.
Worked in the gang unit to improve Operation Ceasefire- a community effort to decrease gang violence in the county. Later moved to the Law & Motion Department drafting legal motions (motions to suppress, motions to dismiss, etc.) and research memos for the attorneys.

In January 2011, the California Supreme Court ruled in People v. Diaz that police officers do not need a warrant to search a portable electronic device incident to a lawful arrest. After the Diaz decision, Senator Mark Leno drafted Senate Bill 914, which would have overturned the Court's decision and required law enforcement to obtain a warrant.
