Bill Byer , a close friend of the Castillos, testified June 10 he asked Castillo to check the drains on his Reston home the night of March 19, 2014. The witness said he was out of the country at the time and asked his friend to check on the home after a snowstorm. Byer said Castillo usually "immediately" and "reliably" responded to his requests to check on his home.
The defense team for Braulio Castillo, the Ashburn man accused of killing his estranged wife and staging it as a suicide, took the stand on June 13 and 14, answering questions about his whereabouts during the time of Michelle Castillo's death.
