My husband and I have been going through a terrible custody case for about two years now with the baby mother from hell... When I say that since Angela everything has done a complete 180 I Cannot do the justice that she deserves in a small review, but I will try.
At the very last minute I had to retain an attorney, with very few available to make some time for me immediately to assist with my ongoing child custody and contempt of court order (s), Attorney Angela Furman without any hesitation or yield accepted my case with open arms. She is compassionate and absolutely a woman of her word.
I was dealing with a very difficult inter state custody battle without representation for about 1.5 years prior to finding Angela Furman.. When the threats of court and other harassments from my ex wouldn't stop, I decided I needed to invest in a lawyer to help represent me.
Everything she knew about my case weeks before I would find out less then a week. Single good hearted man just wanted help she actually made it worst. And oh boy don’t pay til end because she forget about you and every time I meet her at court we literally spent the whole time going over my case like the first time we meet.
I paid for a consultation with this attorney and after that I never heard anything back from her. I would reach out via phone, email she wouldn’t respond so today when I sent a new email about finding a new attorney she replied I should find a new attorney. Ever sad as to the thought of her helping me get my son back was a lie and a hope.
She got my cash app fee talk to me for 20 minutes and I never heard from her again.
In 2011 Corey's office oversaw a case in which 12-year-old Cristian Fernandez was arrested for the murder of his two-year-old brother. Corey stated that because the juvenile system is not equipped to handle cases as serious as murder, the case was transferred to adult court.
In response to his harsh criticism, Dershowitz claims Corey called Harvard Law School and, "threatened to sue the institution, get me disciplined by the Bar, and made accusations of libel and slander".
In May 2012, Corey prosecuted 31-year-old Marissa Alexander for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and obtained a mandatory minimum sentence of twenty years in prison, which generated controversy in the midst of the Trayvon Martin case. Alexander argued that she fired a warning shot after being threatened by her husband Rico Gray.
A grand jury indicted Fernandez on (adult) charges of first degree murder and aggravated child abuse. From the beginning of the case, Corey stated her office would not be seeking a life sentence in this case. Corey also noted that the juvenile system was inadequate to handle a crime of this magnitude.
In FY 14-15, Corey's office ranked seventh in the state, out of 20 circuits, in juvenile direct files. State Attorney Corey spent more than a million dollars in FY 14-15 to run juvenile and adult diversion programs. This means that defendant's cases are handled out of court.
Corey alleges the dismissal was due to her decision to campaign against Shorstein's preferred successor in the election for State Attorney.
In 2010, the Florida Times-Union reported that Corey sent 230 juvenile felony cases to adult court in 2009. This amounted to twice the number of juvenile felony cases placed in adult court in the years prior to Corey becoming State Attorney. Since Corey took office, the number of juvenile arrests has dropped in half.
