The District Court of the Virgin Islands is a federal court that has jurisdiction over the territory of the Virgin Islands of the United States. It was established by the Organic Act of 1936. Appeals of the court's decisions are heard by the United States Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit.

U.S. Virgin Islands Attorney General. Attorney General Denise N. George (aka Denise George-Counts) is a native Virgin Islander who attended the All Saints Cathedral School and graduated from the Charlotte Amalie High School. Attorney George received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio, Television and Film from the University of Maryland.
During her tenure, she successfully prosecuted a full spectrum of violent crimes, including murder, manslaughter, rape, domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. As a member of the Child Abuse Task Force, she co-authored the Virgin Islands’ first criminal child abuse and neglect statute.
Attorney George received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio, Television and Film from the University of Maryland. Before enrolling in law school, Attorney General George was a television news reporter and desk anchor for a St. Thomas television station, WBNB-TV, and more recently, a local cable TV talk show host.
U.S. States Attorney for the District of Virgin Islands, Gretchen Shappert has been fighting for the people of the country for decades. She worked for the betterment of Native Americans by helping them with the legal system. She also served as the Chairperson of the Justice Department’s subcommittee. There, she was responsible for overseeing the issues related to Native American people.
Over the years, she made her name by working on many high-profile cases. She held the office as the Assistant U.S. Attorney between 1990 and 2004. Later, she moved on to become the Attorney for North Carolina’s Western District from 2004 to 2009. After her resignation, she joined EOUSA (Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys) as Assistant Director. She headed departments for Native Indian tribes and monitored violent and cybercrimes in the region.
When it comes to terrorism, the remarkable efforts of Lady Shappert to improve the situation are essential. She has immense experience in the legal field and has read a lot about sensitive topic. With the help of this knowledge, she wrote and published an article titled “Fighting Domestic Terrorism and Creating the Department of Justice: The Extraordinary Leadership of Attorney General Amos T. Akerman.”
