Oliver Queen first appears in the pilot episode of Arrow. He is discovered on the deserted island of Lian Yu by fishermen, having been shipwrecked there five years earlier following the destruction of his family yacht the Queen's Gambit, which he was on with his father Robert Queen ( Jamey Sheridan) and Sara Lance ( Jacqueline MacInnes Wood ), who did not survive. Oliver Queen / Green Arrow (Earth-16) In the season 1 episode of Legends of Tomorrow, " Star City 2046 ", the Legends arrive in a future version of Star City in the year 2046, which is later revealed to be on Earth-16. They meet an older Oliver Queen who fought Grant Wilson, Slade's son, who took the mantle of Deathstroke.
Later Oliver figures out that Prometheus is someone close to him. For his first mission, Novu takes Oliver to Earth-2 to retrieve dwarf star particles from Tommy Merlyn, who is the Dark Archer of that Earth , with the help of Laurel and Earth 2's Green Arrow Adrian Chase. Oliver succeeds in his mission, only to witness Earth-2's destruction with Laurel its only survivor.
Producer Marc Guggenheim expressed that the creative team wanted to "chart [their] own course, [their] own destiny", and avoid any direct connections to Smallville, which featured its own Oliver Queen / Green Arrow ( Justin Hartley ), opting to cast a new actor in the role. It was also the first script that Amell auditioned for during pilot season, having received multiple scripts at the start of the year. For Amell, the appeal of portraying Queen was that he saw multiple roles tied to the same character: "There’s Queen the casual playboy; Queen the wounded hero; Queen the brooding Hamlet; Queen the lover; Queen the man of action, and so on." The actor, who was already in shape from Rent-a-Goalie, did physical fitness training at Tempest Freerunning Academy out of Reseda, Los Angeles, California. Amell received archery training as well, which included watching a video on how archery has been displayed inaccurately or poorly in television and film before learning the basics of shooting a bow. Amell describes the up-keep on his fitness as the biggest physical challenge of the series. Amell stated that he has to "steal time at the gym", and spends time on set being active.

Green Arrow kills Damien Darhk. As Darhk activated the nukes, Oliver gave a public speech to the citizens rioting in Star City. He got everyone to calm down and Felicity with the help of Curtis disabled the nuke heading for the city. Oliver fought Darhk in public in front of a mob of Star City citizens.
The Arrow requested Felicity call an ambulance for the captain. Oliver returned to the base, checking that Felicity was okay. He sent Roy out to patrol for Werner's men and instructed Dig to go home to look after Lyla. Felicity and Oliver headed to Queen Consolidated for Oliver's meeting with the company's board.
Oliver spent 5 months happily living with Felicity. The two of them traveled a lot, during which Oliver learned how to cook, before eventually settling down in Ivy Town. He revealed to his new friends, Adam and Laura Hoffman, of his plans to propose to Felicity that evening over a romantic dinner. However, he was interrupted when Laurel and Thea arrived, needing his help. Although reluctant, Oliver agreed to come back this one time but upon arriving, Diggle made it clear he didn't want Oliver on the team, not having forgiven him for kidnapping Lyla. Cisco had designed Oliver a new suit before knowing he was retiring. Initially, Oliver decided to only wear the suit once then go back into retirement. After learning his enemy was Damien Darhk and realizing he and Felicity actually missed this old life, Oliver decided to return to his crusade to help Star City once more. Since everyone believed Roy was the Arrow, who was "killed", Oliver adopted a new alias, "Green Arrow", and vowed to be the symbol of hope that the Arrow never was.

Oliver managed to recover a laptop ridden with bullets. The Hood warns Lance about Deadshot's attack. The next day, he took the laptop to Queen Consolidated's I.T. department and was directed to Felicity Smoak. Oliver asked her to salvage information from the laptop, with a poor excuse.
Oliver and the other eventually escaped the Dominators' mothership by hijack a small pod and managed to get on to the Waverider. Eventually, realizing that the Dominators' plan was to exterminate all meta-human life on Earth, Oliver, Barry, and Kara lead the everyone and defeated the Dominators saving the Earth.
Cold temperatures: Because speed is produced by a build-up of heat in the target's atoms, Oliver is vulnerable to extreme cold temperatures. Under these conditions, Oliver 's speed will be greatly reduced. Also, direct exposure to such cold will temporarily stunt his healing capacities. However, since learning to regulate his body temperature with a buildup of energy, he has a much higher resilience to cold.

In The Flash season two episode, " Welcome to Earth-2 ", it is revealed that Oliver's Earth-2 doppelganger died on the Queen's Gambit (Arrowverse) . In season eight, Oliver, pretending to be his Earth-2 doppelganger, was stranded on Lian Yu for twelve years instead of five years.
Malcolm Merlyn (portrayed by John Barrowman ; main: seasons 3–4; recurring: seasons 1–2, 5; guest: 7 & 8), born Arthur King, is a wealthy businessman, a member of the League of Assassins, the father of Tommy and Thea and is the main antagonist of season one. During season one, Malcolm plots the Undertaking, the destruction of the Glades using an earthquake device, after his wife Rebecca was murdered there. When Robert Queen earlier threatened the Undertaking, Malcolm arranged to destroy Robert's ship, Queen's Gambit, resulting in Robert's death and indirectly leading to Oliver and Sara becoming the Arrow and the Canary. In the main story of season one, he uses Moira to gain access to the resources needed for the Undertaking. He tries to reshape Tommy into a better person by cutting him off which works but causes tensions between them. When the Arrow interferes with his plan, Malcolm becomes a vigilante called "Dark Archer" to oppose him and proves to be far more skilled. He suspects Oliver to be the Arrow and is proven right after defeating him a second time. In the season finale, Malcolm is seemingly killed by Oliver though he manages to destroy much of the Glades, inadvertently kills Tommy, and is publicly exposed for his crime by Moira.
Thompson also portrays the Earth-2 doppelgänger where she is married to the Earth-2 version of Malcolm Merlyn. She is then seen to be eraded after a wave of the anti-matter destroys Earth-2.

Ironically when Malcolm Merlyn suggested the name "Green Arrow" in the Season 1 episode " Year's End ", Oliver was against it, even calling it "lame". The flashforward scene where Oliver and Barry are shown visiting a grave at the cemetery would be reused in " Blood Debts " and " Canary Cry ".
Oliver and Felicity 's blissful getaway is cut short when Thea and Laurel pay them a visit and tell Oliver they need his help back in Star City. The city has been attacked by " Ghosts ", assassins led by a dangerous man named Damien Darhk. However, when Oliver returns, Diggle makes it very clear that he doesn't want Oliver on the team. [src]
Damien performs a blood ritual. Team Arrow and the police work to evacuate the station, but cannot find the bombs. They realize that the bombs have not been planted at the station- they are on the train inbound from Central City. Diggle drives close enough to the train for Arrow to hop on.
Oliver and Felicity move into Thea's loft, since Thea has been living with Laurel for a while. Oliver shedding tears as he plans his revenge. Time skips forward six months into the future. Oliver is seen standing by a tombstone.
Meanwhile, Oliver and Felicity are living relatively normal lives In the Ivy Town suburbs. Felicity is the CEO of Palmer Technologies, but works mostly via conference call. Oliver has developed a skill for cooking (which Felicity notably lacks), and they have a friendly lunch with some of their neighbors.
When Oliver is forced to do a HALO jump by A.R.G.U.S. in order to infiltrate Lian Yu, he has no oxygen. HALO jumps are made from altitudes of 25,000 feet or higher and military personnel always use oxygen bottles when doing them. In reality, Oliver would have lost consciousness shortly after exiting the plane.
