Bobby Dassey is Stephen Avery's nephew. Bobby was one of the key witnesses used by the prosecution in the trial against his uncle. In the trial, he testified that he saw Halbach taking photos on Avery's property but did not see her again after she went into Avery's trailer.

Now, both Brendan Dassey’s brother and step-dad are getting fingered as possible suspects by Zellner. Bobby Dassey was a star witness for the prosecution in Avery's trial, but Zellner is now claiming he lied during the testimony he made at that time.
Making A Murderer has gripped the nation since it began three years ago on Netflix – and in the first series Bobby Dassey was a big character in the documentary.
Bobby Dassey last gave testimony in part one of Making A Murderer – and in the video he said: “Well, my buddy [Michael Osmundson] was over too and [Avery] asked us, it sounded like he was joking, honestly, but he asked us if we wanted – he wanted us to help him get rid of the body [of Teresa Halbach].”
Zellner said: “Many of the images bear a striking resemblance to Ms Halbach and to the nature of the crime committed against her.”
We do not know exactly what Bobby Dassey is up to, given his non-appearance in series two of the show.
Authorities later found RAV4 in Avery’s Salvage Yard. Investigators found Avery’s blood inside the vehicle.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Halbach, a freelance photographer for Auto Trader magazine, was murdered on October 31, 2005, after driving to Steven Avery’s house to take photos of his sister’s van. Her bone fragments, vehicle, and other evidence were found on Avery’s property days later.
According to court documents, Zellner filed a motion in October 2017, at the Wisconsin Circuit Court, after Judge Angela Sutkiewicz turned down a previous motion, citing insufficient evidence to grant Avery a new trial.
Bobby Dassey has not made any statements since Making a Murderer 2 has aired. However, Scott Tadych has released a statement on Facebook defending himself and his step-son while attacking Kathleen Zellner.
