After six years of being Assistant U.S. Attorney, Mendell was promoted into being the Chief of the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force in 2012. Prior to becoming First Assistant United States Attorney, Acting U.S. Attorney Mendell was Chief of the Narcotics and Money Laundering Unit. In this position, Mendell demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and has led a team of 15 prosecutors, as well as several administrative personnel, through a great many investigations and prosecutions that were centered on the combat against drug trafficking and money laundering throughout the United States, Colombia, Europe, and the Middle East.
