In 2010, Flynn left the bench and was appointed Town Attorney in Tonawanda, NY. In 2016, he was elected Erie County District Attorney and took office on January 1, 2017. Flynn won re-election in 2020 running unopposed. Flynn is currently the first Vice President of the District Attorneys Association of New York.
