MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Tearman Spencer, Milwaukee's first African American elected city attorney, has joined the list of candidates vying to become mayor. He was the ninth candidate to enter the race. Spencer was elected last year, but his term is one that's been marred with controversy.Dec 31, 2021
The employment law firm Hawks Quindel sent a letter to city officials Tuesday announcing the firm had been hired by the Association of Municipal Attorneys of Milwaukee "with regard to the Association’s ongoing concerns about the work environment in the City Attorney’s Office."
The Milwaukee Police Association has filed a complaint against Spencer with the state Office of Lawyer Regulation accusing Spencer of “grossly unethical” behavior that requires immediate investigation.
Spencer’s desire to hire outside law firms to handle two potentially costly legal cases against the city has also raised some questions.
