Despite not having airtight proof, Charles was convinced Daniel was guilty and vowed to see him rot in jail. However, Daniel's lawyer, Justin Kiriakis, soon thwarted the D.A.'s vision and eventually Daniel was freed, much to Charles' dismay. Charles would have future run-ins with the Salem P.D. and local F.B.I. agents.
Don Craig was a successful attorney and wealthy. In 1974 after dating Julie Olson Williams (Banning) for some time the two became engaged. However Julie quickly broke it off after learning that her mother Addie Horton was dying and Doug Williams would soon be free.
When Don finally told Maggie she was speechless. In 1983 Don and Maggie fell in love, but when they confessed their feelings Mickey suddenly re-appeared in Salem, after finally escaping from Stefano. Maggie and Mickey divorced in 1983, and soon after Maggie stopped seeing Don, realizing her divorce from Mickey was a mistake.
In December of 1977 Don decided to run for State Senate. However, in 1978 the newspapers started a smear campaign against Don in the papers. When Don's old girlfriend Lorraine Temple saw his picture in the paper she returned to Salem to tell Don about the daughter her never knew he had, Donna Temple Craig.
They learned that Evan was blackmailing Stefano, and that Stefano was behind Maggie Horton 's car accident. Mickey came too close to finding out what was going on, and Stefano kidnapped him and held him prisoner on the DiMera Island, but made it look like he died in an auto accident.
Don and Laura Horton found Samantha Evans and eventually got Marlena released from Bayview. Later that year Marlena and Don learned they were expecting a child. By the end of the year Don was back into the political scene, attempting to break up the porn ring in town, which his daughter was a part of unknown to him.

Franco Kelly, played by Victor Alfieri from June 1996 to October 1998, first came to Salem to model for Titan. It was soon revealed that Kate Roberts hired him to break up Bo and Hope Brady so that her daughter Billie Reed could reunite with her former lover Bo. After Franco was exposed he tried to con Sami Brady into marriage so that he could hide from his mob past and obtain a real green card. Kate planned revenge on Sami by exposing Franco's true motives at their wedding. Before the wedding could take place, Sami discovered the truth and announced that she was going to "kill that bastard". Franco meanwhile, attempted to beat and kill Kate for threatening him but was stopped when Lucas Horton shot Franco, killing him.

Furious, Charles took the trip away from Chad with little explanation. In April 2010, Charles was hospitalized after being attacked on the pier. He blamed F.B.I. agent Rafe Hernandez, Gabi's brother. His wife, Madeline, assured her husband Rafe would pay the crime.
Later, when Chad returned to Salem in June of 2009, he began perusing a relationship with Mia once again. Charles strongly objected and tried to force his son to stay away from Mia. Chad continued to go after Mia, but Charles remained on his son's case every step of the way.
Nevertheless, Charles blamed Chad and harshly berated his already grief-stricken, guilt-filled son by blaming him. He told Chad that he simply saw his as the man who killed his wife. Chad was devastated by his father's treatment, but Kate DiMera tried to encourage Chad to talk to his father.
Eventually, Charles would set his sights on Rafe's sister, Arianna Hernandez. When she was arrested for the crimes, he did all he could to ensure she remained in jail. Unfortunately, his vendetta against Arianna took a backseat when Madeline died suddenly on July 19, 2010.
Charles also wanted to get Chad away from Mia McCormick, the girl he was dating, whom Charles considered trash. Tony got the computer, but went blind in the process. Laura Horton spotted Peter talking with a man on the docks and Peter feared that Laura would eventually learn that the man was a drug dealer. Peter enlisted the aid of Daniel Scott to gaslight Laura. Daniel dated Laura and even had her office repainted.
Stefano revealed that the body in the casket was Daniel Scott, with a latex mask of Peter on.
Peter Blake came to Salem in 1993 to warn his sister, Kristen, to keep a low profile and not to become involved with John Black in any way. Later that year, Stefano and Tony DiMera returned to town. Peter and Stefano plotted to have John Black killed because he and Kristen had fallen in love, but the shooter they hired to kill him failed. Peter and Stefano managed to convince Kristen to marry Tony because it was Stefano's dying wish. In 1994, Peter Blake began to date Jen Horton Deveraux. Peter realized that he had to rid himself of his old ways and planned to sell a club where he had been trafficking Drugs.
Jack Deveraux returned to Salem in 1994 and moved back into his house, because he still owned 50% of it. Jack was hell-bent on breaking up Peter and Jen, but Jen assured him that she loved Peter and was going to marry him.
While Jack was in jail on November 21, 1995, Peter and Jennifer married. After Peter and Jen's wedding, Tony DiMera was tragically murdered. John Black became the accused and Peter was named the prosecutor.
Roman also showed up, but to arrest Peter Blake for trafficking drugs in one of his clubs. A jealous Celeste leaked gas into the cell where John and Marlena were being held and started a fire. Roman managed to rescue them. John came out and shocked both Kristen and Tony, who were horrified to see John in shackles.
Bo searched for the cabin, but got lost in a snowstorm. Jennifer Blake, Peter Blake, Jack Deveraux, and Mike Horton come looking for Bo and eventually found him.
Days of Our Lives comings and goings reveal that Tina Huang has been cast as former DA Melinda Trask. The role was previously portrayed by Laura Kai Chen. Not only did Melinda show no leniency or mercy to lawbreakers, but her daughter was also Haley Chen (Thia Megia).
As Melinda slowly slinks toward Kristen, the former district attorney brings up Haley’s death. Melinda says that she is looking at the person who pushed her daughter down the stairs. Kristen has a look of horror on her face and it is clear that Melinda wants justice.
DOOL comings and goings reveal that Haley had an illegal immigration storyline. She was Claire Brady’s (then played by Olivia Rose Keegan) target and also discovered Melinda wasn’t her sister, but her mother. When Haley died, it was from being pushed down the stairs by Kristen, who had just learned that her newborn daughter was dead. Even though it was ruled an accident, there is someone who is determined to get justice.
