City of Crowley’s Office of Administrative Affairs is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the mayor’s office. The Administrative Assistant schedules all appointments and meetings for the mayor, keeps the mayor and board of aldermen informed of all changes in federal and/or state statutes. The Theatre was constructed in the mid to late 1940’s. The building was later sold to the City of Crowley in 1986. This was when the Rice City Civic Center Project was undertaken by a group of concerned citizens and the City of Crowley Administration.
In 1950, pitcher Rusty Walters won 30 games for the Millers leading the team to the Gulf Coast League Pennant. The following year teammate, Andy Strong was struck and killed by lightning in a game in Alexandria. In 1952, the Millers won the pennant and playoff for their best season. George Brunet won 7 of 8 games and pitched a no-hitter in 1956 on his way to the Major League Kansas City A’s. In 1957, Hurricane Audrey severely damaged many baseball parks and as a result the league finished the season with only 4 teams. In 1958, the league folded and the ballpark was purchased by the City of Crowley. In 1998 renovations for Miller Stadium began. The stadium has been updated with new lights, poles, enlarged press box and media deck and phone in the dugout for communications and game coverage.

Popular with baseball enthusiasts, the Millers set attendance records by drawing 100,000 plus fans in 1952, 1953, and 1954.
