Foxx promoted Magats in January 2017 to be the chief of the criminal prosecutions bureau, according to the Chicago Law Bulletin. Magats was then promoted again, in 2018, to become Foxx’s second-in-command as first assistant state’s attorney, the Chicago Tribune reported.
