I'm on a moot court team at my university (still in my undergrad, going to law school next year)...and I'm a guy who has long hair (for a guy). I'm also from Alabama, a historically conservative state. We are going to an invitational tournament where the case will be presided by actual judges and lawyers.
In many ways, court is a stage. There are players, props and scripts. If your look does not fit the "role" you wish to play, you need to change your look. Whether or not you like it, people make choices based upon visual cues... and, though justice is blind, the jury isn't.

I have seen male lawyers in court with waist length hair in a pony tail. I mean they looked ok and I didnt see where it swayed the jury.
