Torrington’s “Little Sister of Liberty” has stood since November 11, 1950. Located on the south lawn of the Goshen County Courthouse, it was one of 200 statues placed across the nation to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Boy Scouts. What makes the Torrington statue truly one-of-a-kind is the remarkable construction of its base.
Some of the duties the County Clerk’s Office is responsible for are: 1 Payroll for the county and maintaining employee records and benefits. 2 The Clerk provides Accounts Payable services and acts as clerk to the County Board of Commissioners. 3 The Clerk prepares and distributes the Commissioners’ Agendas and minutes, publishes them in the newspaper, and posts them on the county website. 4 The Clerk also acts as the Chief Budget Officer. 5 The Clerk is the County Recorder and Ex-Officio Register of Deeds. 6 The Clerk is the Chief Election Officer and is responsible for conducting and holding the federal, state, and county primary and general elections every two years, and any special elections required. 7 Our office issues vehicle titles and files liens on titles. 8 The Clerk’s office issues Wyoming Marriage Licenses, catering and malt beverage permits. 9 Administers the Liquor License application process.
