Lori Loughlin's attorney in the 'Varsity Blues' case accused prosecutors and FBI of hiding information, then a lenient plea deal showed up
Loughlin’s C-plea states a prison sentence of 2 months in prison and Judge Gorton could either accept the plea or reject it ... if he accepted the plea, the sentence will be 2 months ... no more, no less. He accepted it.
- Loughlin and Giannulli are charged with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering in the college admissions scandal.
Loughlin’s plea is not your regular plea agreement. It is referred to as a C-plea, a reference to Fed. R. Crim. P. 11 (c) (1) (C), which takes the guess-work out of the prison sentence by tying the judges hands.
Gorton also stated that Loughlin, if not happy with his decision, would have ample opportunity to cross examine Singer if and when he testifies at trial. After the ruling, Loughlin’s attorneys held discussions with federal prosecutors who must have been feeling lucky with Gorton’s ruling but not so much looking forward to trial.

In his final pitch to jurors, Berkowitz showed them a poster with the words “Truth” and “Lies” written in black and white. “You get to decide whether they told the truth, or they told lies, ” he said.
But Loughlin and Giannulli say they believed the checks they wrote were legitimate donations that would support Singer’s charity or go directly to USC as a fundraising gift. Their lawyers have accused prosecutors of withholding information that could support the couple’s claims of innocence, including notes from Singer’s iPhone in which he says the FBI told him to lie and say that he told parents that the payments were bribes.
Lori Anne Loughlin ( / ˈlɒklɪn /; born July 28, 1964) is an American actress and producer. She is known for her role as Rebecca "Aunt Becky" Donaldson-Katsopolis on the ABC sitcom Full House (1988–1995) and its Netflix sequel Fuller House (2016–2018). Loughlin is also known for her roles of Jody Travis in The Edge of Night (1980–1983), Debbie Wilson in The CW series 90210 (2008–2012), Jennifer Shannon in the Garage Sale Mystery television film series (2013–2018), and Abigail Stanton in When Calls the Heart (2014–2019). Loughlin was a co-creator, producer, and star of the two seasons of The WB series Summerland (2004–2005).
The indictment against the couple alleged that they had paid $500,000 to the Key Worldwide Foundation, disguised as a donation, so that the admissions committee of University of Southern California (USC) would believe their two daughters would join the women's rowing team although neither had trained in the sport of rowing nor had plans to do so. The following day, Loughlin and her husband surrendered to federal authorities in Los Angeles.
In 2020, Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli , pled guilty to conspiracy to commit fraud in connection with the 2019 college admissions bribery scandal. On August 21, 2020, Loughlin was fined and sentenced to two months in prison.
As a result, the Hallmark Channel terminated their business relationship with Loughlin on March 14 , and edited out her previously recorded scenes from the yet un-aired season six of When Calls the Heart.
In 1993, she starred in the television adaptation of Sidney Sheldon 's novel A Stranger in the Mirror, a roman à clef on Groucho Marx and Erin Fleming, in which Loughlin plays Fleming's role. In 1997, she starred alongside Bruce Campbell in the film In the Line of Duty: Blaze of Glory.
Lori Loughlin was sentenced to prison for her role in the college admissions scam.

So, yes, it’s a bit disturbing that Loughlin will return to television, albeit on a new network, GAC Family, whose execs seem to think everything is sweet and good in the world of Hollywood entitlement and sleaze. It helps, I guess, that GAC is run by Bill Abbott, the former CEO of Crown Media Family Networks, which oversees Hallmark Channel. But I’m guessing the decision to hire Loughlin wasn’t made by Abbott alone; there’s strength in numbers, and how else can the blame be spread around evenly if it all goes belly up?
