Republicans largely opposed Becerra, saying he lacked experience to lead the department amid a global pandemic. They also slammed his pro-abortion views and his past support for "Medicare for All."
A member of the Biden confirmation team said at the time that they were focused on pushing Becerra’s "decades of experience with health care policy" as a member of Congress, his work on drug prices and confronting opioid manufacturers and his fight to protect the Affordable Care Act in court.
