Therefore, claims that the opposing attorney did threatened trial or to file a motion or to seek to take certain property or the like are not viewed as breaches in the duties to you, since the other attorney does not have such duties to you.

There’s nothing unethical about representing a client who is a good friend, or even about becoming friends with a client during the course of the representation, as long as the lawyer does not engage in overreaching. Having dinner with a client is perfectly okay.

What I see with mind-numbing frequency are attorneys who don’t handle trust money properly, and especially those that dip into the money when they shouldn’t.
