Chesa Boudin defeated Leif Dautch, Suzy Loftus, and Nancy Tung in the nonpartisan election for District Attorney of San Francisco on November 5, 2019. Boudin had 35.7% of the first-choice vote, followed by Loftus with 31.1%, Tung with 19.3%, and Dautch with 13.9%.
District attorneys are elected to four-year terms, and there are no term limits. In San Francisco, ranked-choice voting is used in elections for district attorney. The election, which was held alongside the 2019 mayoral election in which incumbent mayor London Breed won her first full term, was won by public defender Chesa Boudin .
