Chris and Roberta Laundrie first reported their son missing on September 17 — nearly a week after Gabby Petito was reported missing by her own parents, and more than two weeks after anyone had heard from her. But according to multiple reports, their cooperation with police has been shaky.
On October 7, Chris Laundrie visited the Carlton Reserve with FBI agents, and personally assisted in the search for his son for the first time. A medical examiner later ruled the cause of death as homicide, and determined that Gabby Petito was likely strangled some three to four weeks prior to her body being discovered — while she and Brian Laundrie were still together.
