Shelby County will soon have a new district attorney for the first time in more than 11 years. Democrat Steve Mulroy easily defeated incumbent republican Amy Weirich with 56 percent of the vote in Thursday’s election. FOX13 spoke to the new DA elect shortly after he declared victory.
From 2006-2011, he was a Shelby County Commissioner. Weirich has held the role of Shelby County District Attorney General since 2011, when she was named to the role by then-Gov. Bill Haslam.
