Lynn Fam, Nguyen’s mother, said, “We’re all still very devastated and grieving over the loss of our beautiful Emmalyn. It’s still so very surreal. This settlement or any amount of money could never replace her. All we really want is for Emmalyn to be with us healthy and happy again.
He is serving three years probation but is allowed to practice medicine, with certain restrictions. The nurse anesthetist in the case, Rex Meeker, voluntarily agreed to discontinue administering anesthesia but is allowed to continue practicing nursing.
On August 1, 2019, Emmalyn Nguyen, who was 18 years old at the time, visited Colorado Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery to undergo breast augmentation.
Nguyen died on October 4, 2020, after 14 months of being in a vegetative state.
On February 16, 2022, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office announced that an arrest warrant for Dr. Geoffrey Kim was obtained.
