The Ace Attorney site Court Records uses multiple timelines: one for the original trilogy, and one for each subsequent game. However, ambiguities and potential contradictions cause difficulties in attempting to construct a single unified timeline for the entire series. This can cause problems when attempting to determine the age of one character relative to another.
Things start to become potentially ambiguous when considering the fact that the first three games cross over the new year. This fact becomes an issue in dating "flashback" cases and time skips. Due to the aforementioned no-birthday principle, this affects characters' years of birth as well (more on that later).
So, the dating of certain events is potentially ambiguous, but evidence is provided to make it fairly unambiguous. The problem is, this approach creates some major conflicts with the no-birthday principle, the logic of the ages given in character profiles, by causing some characters to age one year less than they should. Here are a few examples:
Since then it's travelled all over - mobile, Wii, 3DS - and now it's back, releasing for PC, PS4, ...

The series currently consists of six main series games and five spin-offs.
Ace Attorney is a series of adventure video game legal dramas developed by Capcom. The first entry in the series, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, was released in 2001; since then, five further main series games, as well as various spin-offs and high-definition remasters for newer game consoles, have been released.
In the spin-off series Ace Attorney Investigations, the player takes the role of prosecutor Miles Edgeworth and in the prequel series The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, of Phoenix's ancestor Ryunosuke Naruhodo. The series was created by the writer and director Shu Takumi.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Justice for All was originally released for the Game Boy Advance in 2002 in Japan; it has also been released for the Nintendo DS in 2006, Microsoft Windows in 2008, the Wii in 2010, and iOS in 2012.
See also: List of Ace Attorney characters. The protagonist of the first three games is the defense attorney Phoenix Wright (Ryūichi Naruhodō in the Japanese version), who is assisted by the spirit medium Maya Fey; in the third game, Phoenix's mentor Mia Fey is also a playable character.
The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is a compilation of both Adventures and Resolve to be released in July 2021 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows. This will be the first time both games are officially available outside of Japan.
One of the many reasons why The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is so hotly anticipated is because of its director, Shu Takumi . Shu Takumi is the legendary director and scenario writer for the original Ace Attorney Trilogy, as well as Ghost Trick: Phantom Device.
In this game, players control Ryunosuke Naruhodo, who is actually an ancestor of Phoenix Wright. New fans don't need to know anything about the rest of the Ace Attorney games to enjoy these ones, however.
