Yanez was charged with second-degree manslaughter, punishable by up to 10 years in prison. He also faced two lesser counts of endangering Castile's girlfriend and her then-four-year-old daughter for firing his gun into the car near them.

(AP) — Philando Castile's permit to legally carry a gun became a point of focus in the days after he was shot and killed by a Minnesota police officer, with some questioning whether Castile acted properly during the July traffic stop and others wondering whether the officer followed his training.
Jurors were quick to decide Yanez's acquittal on felony weapons charges. The juror said photos of Castile's body showed that Yanez was aiming away from the two passengers, Diamond Reynolds and her 4-year-old daughter. Jurors couldn't agree on the manslaughter charge for days, though.
Police went to the scene the night of July 13 after a 911 call from a neighbor of Sundberg's who said he was firing a gun into her apartment, endangering her and her 2- and 4-year-old sons.
