The rest of the world grumbles about it, but lawyers habitually wait until the last minute to accomplish significant tasks. In my own practice, I often try to put off preparing for court arguments or depositions until the day before they are going to happen, or even the night before.
Serious health issues or medical emergencies. Being held in custody for another offense. Death of an immediate family member.
A person is considered to be practicing law when that person's conduct whenever and wherever it takes place is of such a nature that legal knowledge, training, skill and ability are required. This definition of the practice of law is not limited to the conduct of cases in court.

Muktzeh may not be moved directly with one's hand or even indirectly with an object (such as sweeping it away with a broom). But if you are able to find a coworker who will trade days off with you, then your employer is probably required to allow it as a reasonable accommodation.

Because your beliefs are sincerely held, the question is whether a schedule change would pose an undue burden. The EEOC has said that involuntary shift changes -- in other words, requiring one of your coworkers to pick up your Saturday shift, when that person doesn't want to do so -- is an undue burden.
