Apr 14, 2001 · Moving the Goalposts: Kevin's first challenge for SpongeBob is to catch a jellyfish, and a jellyfish just swims into SpongeBob's net. So Kevin asks for two jellyfish, and two jellyfish go into the net on cue. This keeps going for a while. It also qualifies as Laser-Guided Karma because the jellyfish sting Kevin once they're brought to him.

When SpongeBob grabs the stereo box, the stereo's speakers appear brown instead of black. Before SpongeBob says, "Gary, you were right. Thanks for not rubbing it in," Gary's mouth moves to say "Meow," but no words or sounds come out. Throughout the episode, the texture of both SpongeBob and Squidward's houses changes.
Additionally, there are 18 jellyfish on the title card. Even though SpongeBob is able to sleep through the blasting music in his own house, Squidward is kept up all night by it. In the Polish dub, this episode is titled "Imprezka z meduzami," which translates to "A Party with Jellyfishes.".
Squidward warns SpongeBob that jellyfish are wild animals and that they should not be domesticated, but SpongeBob completely ignores him.
At the beginning of the episode, SpongeBob and Patrick throw Squidward a surprise birthday party, singing, "SURPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SQUIDWARD! Happy Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday Cake! " After a few scenes of partying in which Squidward does not so much as crack a smile, he finally bellows, "It's not my BIRTHDAY!!! "
When Patrick says, "Wait a minute, no, you don't!", it cuts back to the picture of SpongeBob's parents, now frowning. The Hard-Work Montage of SpongeBob and Patrick building SpongeBob's (mini) house.
The portrait of Squidward panicking is also funny as well. Having kicked SpongeBob out of his house, Squidward goes into the bathroom - and screams as he finds Patrick in the bathtub. Then SpongeBob appears through the window and he and Patrick begin arguing again, driving Squidward crazy and he flees his house.
SpongeBob's Flair Bartending as he prepares a Krabby Patty by throwing the ingredients up in the air, catching them with his pores, taking off his head and shaking it, and then taking out the finished Patty from under Squidward's nose, all while talking in a ridiculous French accent.

At the end of the episode, Plankton lands in Bubble Bass' fins, where he's mistaken for a jelly bean and chased by the hungry Bubble Bass.
When SpongeBob and Sandy's Valentine's surprise gift for Patrick, a giant chocolate balloon, is held up by a swarm of scallops, SpongeBob tries to stall by giving Patrick... a handshake. Patrick eventually sets aside his bitterness at the lameness of the "gift", only for a series of random fish to whom SpongeBob gave more elaborate gifts to walk up and thank him as he and Patrick sit on a bench at the Valentine's Day carnival. Patrick finally snaps and throws some guy when he asks them if they know the time, then charges toward a man in a Valentine's heart costume, screaming "I DEFY YOU, HEART MAN!" and tearing his costume in half.
SpongeBob: And no amount of mermaid magic... (Turns to Mindy)...or managerial promotion... (Turns to the light blue Mr. Krabs)...or some other third thing...can make me anything more than what I really am inside: A kid.
SpongeBob, Mindy and Patrick: Umbrella? (Turn to Neptune, who is kissing his crown. The ceiling opens up and a helmet falls out. It lands on Neptune 's head. He struggles to get it off)
Squidward: I think I know what it is. After going on your life-changing journey, you now realize you don't want what you thought you wanted. What you really wanted was inside you all along.
SpongeBob: So, yeah, I'm a kid. (Dry ice smoke surrounds Plankton, and a spotlight appears on SpongeBob.) And I'm also a goofball. And a wing nut. And a Knucklehead McSpazatron!
