Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld) is the only character to appear in every episode. Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) did not appear in season one, episode one, Seinfeld: Good News, Bad News (1989), season four episodes one and two, Seinfeld: The Trip: Part 1 (1992) & Seinfeld: The Trip: Part 2 (1992).
It’s pretty revealing that Kramer is always so willing to join Elaine for her various schemes and is almost always willing to help her when she comes to him. This suggests that, deep down, Kramer really cares about her and, considering the lengths he’s willing to go to help, it’s hard not to think that the feelings might be a little more than just friendship. It might even be that, were they to get together, he would be a generous and helpful boyfriend.
Though Elaine has a...fraught...relationship with George, it’s pretty clear that her dynamic with Kramer is something different. There seems to be a genuine sort of fondness between the two of them, as evidenced by the many times that they call each other by affectionate pet names.
Kramer is definitely a larger-than-life character, but it’s also true that, at times , he’s not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. On her side, though she is rather full of herself (supercilious, as Frank Castanza calls her), she’s also intelligent and rational (at least compared to Kramer).
When George's new girlfriend gets mononucleosis, he's told there'll be no sex for at least six weeks. Frustrated, he begins to realize he has interests in science and history. Jerry says the lack of sex has made him smarter as he's now concentrating on his brain. For Elaine however, the lack of sex is having the opposite effect.
Phil Morris says he particularly enjoyed his role in this episode as, for all his life, having a name similar to the tobacco company Philip Morris, he had to suffer wisecracks from people. When he delivers the line "Tobacco companies? I've been wanting a piece of them for years", he claims he was channelling some of this frustration.

Kramer’s ability to unwittingly (or half-wittingly, at least) seduce a Latvian orthodox nun into renouncing her vows is a nice encapsulation of the way the show consistently wrote ungainly, unusual-looking Kramer as having an inexplicable allure. This episode just put a word to it, as the Latvian orthodox priests dubbed him “the kavorka.”
Kramer installs a hot tub in his apartment, which of course is destined to end in disaster. The fun is in trying to anticipate how, and at what angles it will reconnect to Jerry’s plot of trying to be the wake-up call for a marathon runner.
