Of course, that vote total means that 20 Republicans voted for Garland, offering yet more proof that the GOP as an institution is absolutely worthless. Garland’s confirmation hearing was a dumpster fire, with shades of Robert Mueller’s senile performance mixed with unacceptable bouts of obfuscation.
Meanwhile, in Suffolk, Republican Ray Tierney trounced Democratic incumbent District Attorney Tim Sini with 145,933 votes or 57 percent to 109,060 votes or 43 percent. Bail reform was also a burning issue in that race.
Out of the 43 states in which the attorney general is directly elected, 30 states have attorney general elections in 2022 . The GOP candidate field grew on Nov. 22 when U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert announced he would run for the office. Later that day, state Rep. Matt Krause dropped out of the primary, saying he would run for district attorney in Tarrant County instead. Gohmert was first elected to the U.S. House in 2004 and earlier served 21 years as a state judge.
