Accurate: People really do get tried for murder, and a prosecutor will make the case that they did it, and the defense attorney will try to poke holes in the case. The prosecution will call a witness and ask open-ended questions that allow the witness to get out a full narrative.

The Ace Attorney series is a nice example of a fairly realistic game, even though the legal accuracy of Ace Attorney can sometimes be troubling, and the series can occasionally get things wrong about the law. ... A jurist is anyone with a law degree, and not the one who participates in a jury trial.)Jul 15, 2016
According to that same leaked roadmap, Ace Attorney 7 was planned to launch in Q3 2021. However, that same document also lists Great Ace Attorney for a Q1 2021 launch and that's now being released on July 27, 2021.Feb 14, 2022
Former students: Iris (posing as Dahlia Hawthorne) (c. August 2013 - April 2014) Phoenix Wright (law, originally art; graduated between 2014 and 2016)
To begin with, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is an exceptional satire of Japan's judicial system. Japan, unlike the US, has a system of “guilty until proven innocent”. If one is accused of a crime and brought into Japan's court, there is a 99% chance of conviction.
During a case seven years prior to the events of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, two months after Trials and Tribulations, he was forced to forfeit his attorney's badge after presenting evidence that, unknown to him, was forged.
Phoenix Wright starts with five and loses one for every penalty received. The usual way to receive a penalty is by presenting irrelevant evidence on a witness's statement during a cross-examination.
Phoenix has only had one girlfriend in his life: Dahlia Hawthorne. And that was basically the textbook definition of “unhealthy relationship.” Phoenix became dangerously obsessed with her, she tried to kill him, and he was secretly in love with her sister the whole time.Nov 1, 2011
Presumably because of Capcom wanting him to be included in the game with the new protagonist, Phoenix Wright was made into a passive and unmotivated individual, becoming known as "hobo Phoenix" by the fans.Apr 4, 2012
No, they do not. While Maya is a close friend to Phoenix, and Pearl strongly ships the two, there's nothing romantic between them. Maya says she thinks of Phoenix as like a brother in Trials & Tribulations.
The Ace Attorney games are Japanese-made, and therefore based on Japanese criminal justice system and courts procedures.Mar 10, 2017
Japan. No person shall be held criminally liable for an act which was lawful at the time it was committed, or of which he has been acquitted, nor shall he be placed in double jeopardy.
Turnabout Succession uses a jury trial instead, the result of a change in the Ace Attorney world's justice system. The courtroom procedure presented in the games is based on the inquisitive system of Japan and other civil law countries rather than the adversarial system of common law countries.
The Double Jeopardy Clause means that if someone is prosecuted once for a crime, they can’t be prosecuted again for the same crime. It doesn’t matter whether they were acquitted or convicted. This is true both under the American Law system and the Japanese Law system.
The Ace Attorney series is a nice example of a fairly realistic game, even though the legal accuracy of Ace Attorney can sometimes be troubling, and the series can occasionally get things wrong about the law. In the Ace Attorney series (excluding the spin-off, Ace Attorney Investigations ), the player assumes the part of a defense attorney.
A mistrial is a cancelled trial that can happen for a number of reasons. Usually something goes pretty badly at the first trial, which violates the due process of law. A second trial brings justice to the ones who need it. The first instance of a retrial happens in the “ Recipe for Turnabout ” case.
That is a misconception. An appeal means that a higher court will review the facts of the case, and never the same court. As we can clearly see, the same judge presides over both trials.
Maggey Byrde, defended by our beloved Phoenix Wright, is convicted of the murder of Glen Elg. However, Byrde’s defense attorney isn’t Phoenix Wright, but an impostor with a cardboard badge (No kidding). This means that the defendant does not have a proper lawyer.
That’s not how double jeopardy works! Of course it’s not possible for a single person to be in two different places at the same time. If the prosecution wanted to convict him of murder, no one could prevent them from putting him on trial. Atmey’s attorney would happily present his alibi. Though, once the court found out the alibi was a fake, there is nothing preventing him from getting convicted of murder.
It would be a retrial if Tenkai is put on trial once again, but he isn’t. Manfred von Karma forged evidence at that trial. This would make it a mistrial and open the possibility of a retrial for Tenkai. But that’s not the case here. Due to the nature of the spin-off, we don’t get to see the actual trial.
