Edgeworth disappeared after Skye's trial, leaving behind what was apparently a suicide note. The note itself simply read, "Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth Chooses Death." Wright decided that Edgeworth had taken the coward's way out and hated him for it. He returned to refusing cases after Skye's trial.
On October 6, Drew Misham was killed through atroquinine poisoning, and Wright, as the chair of the Jurist System Simulated Court Committee, had the courts use this case as the test case for the Jurist System. Justice was appointed to the defense's bench, defending Vera against Klavier. Wright was also able to pick the jurists himself. Wright gave Trucy Zak's will, but he told her not to open it until the right time. As Justice conducted his investigation, Wright began the final stages of his own long investigation.
Two weeks after the Gramarye trial, Wright took in Zak's abandoned daughter Trucy and raised her as his own, after failing to find any close kin. Template:Expand After being asked by Heihachi Mishima to defend him on charges of smuggling illegal substances, Phoenix Wright and Maya Fey traveled to Japan and headed to Kamurocho, where they had agreed to meet. Whilst waiting, however, the area became infested with zombies. The two were eventually rescued by Mishima and the yakuza Goro Majima, but were forced to retreat down a nearby manhole as the number of zombies increased. The manhole lead to Makai, where Wright eventually met up with Demitri Maximoff and Morrigan Aensland, who agreed to help the duo return to the human world. After rendezvousing with the rest of their group, Wright and Fey were attacked by Baby Bonnie Hood, who was under contract with Shadaloo to kill Wright before he could clear Mishima's name. As the others would be unable to effectively fight off any enemies and protect them at the same time, Aensland supercharged Fey's magatama with spiritual energy, allowing her and Wright to defend themselves. Hood was eventually forced to retreat and the group safely made it out of Makai.
Phoenix Wright 's "class trial" was a major event in his childhood that heavily impacted his goals for the future. At the time, Wright was put on trial by his own classmates, and he experienced what it was like to be alone, with no one on his side.
Over 15 years later, the truth finally came to light. After Miles was found not guilty in his own trial, Butz gave him a "congratulations present" of $38. Butz then admitted that he was the one who had stolen Miles' lunch money, which the latter had suspected all along because he couldn't have seen Butz standing up for Wright any other way. Wright was annoyed that Miles hadn't voiced his suspicions earlier, but Maya Fey jokingly pointed out that the statute of limitations for the theft had already run out by that point, so there was nothing that could be done about it.
One day, during P.E., Miles Edgeworth 's envelope containing $38 was stolen. Wright, who was coming down with a cold and had skipped P.E. that day, was the only one without an alibi. As such, he was accused of the theft and put on "trial" the next day.
The class trial is based on an incident in which, in his second grade, series creator Shu Takumi found a piggy bank in his school's courtyard. He was subsequently accused of stealing the piggy bank from a classmate, and was forced into her homeroom to apologize to her.
At the Detention Center, Maya told Wright that she knew she had to save the trial, hence her outburst. She assured him that, as soon as the paperwork was done, she would be free to go. However, her spiritual powers were still weak from not training, so it was impossible to summon her sister Mia Fey for help.
In this episode, Phoenix's rival in the courtroom, Miles Edgeworth, is arrested for the murder of a former defense attorney. Phoenix takes to his defense, and the veteran prosecutor opposing him is Manfred von Karma, Edgeworth's mentor. In resolving the case, Phoenix reveals a connection to the unsolved DL-6 Incident from fifteen years prior - a case that greatly impacted Miles due to the victim's identity. This episode also reflects upon the Class trial, an event going back to when Miles, Phoenix and Larry Butz were all in school, and motivated Phoenix into becoming a defense attorney.
At the defendant lobby, Gumshoe told Wright that the police had found the caretaker, and that he was going to testify. When the trial began, von Karma was strangely cooperative of the process, answering the judge's questions and even telling Wright to cross-examine the witness. The caretaker testified that he figured that he had nothing to do with the incident, and he had gone to buy food for Polly. Wright ignored this excuse and insisted that he did have something to do with the case.
Trial. Phoenix Wright's opponent was Manfred von Karma, Edgeworth's mentor, who had never lost a single case in his 40-year career. Von Karma quickly assumed control over the judge and the courtroom. First on the stand was Detective Gumshoe, who testified that Edgeworth was arrested on the spot.
While incarcerated in the detention center, Edgeworth says, "So, you've come to laugh at the fallen attorney?", which mirrors what April May says in Turnabout Sisters while in the detention center herself ("Have you come to laugh? Yes, laugh at the fallen Miss May!"). Edgeworth also says a similar line in Bridge to the Turnabout when Wright encounters him after an earthquake causes him to let a defendant escape from him.
In his testimony, the caretaker claimed to have seen a boat after hearing a gunshot. After hearing the gunshot, he had seen a man walking by him near the shop. He also claimed that the fog was thick, but that he had seen his face nonetheless. When Wright questioned this statement, the caretaker claimed that the man was Edgeworth, and that he was certain of this. von Karma had lured the defense into a trap. Wright's objections were overruled, and Edgeworth was declared guilty. Just then, Larry Butz burst in, demanding to testify about what he had witnessed on the night of the murder. Despite von Karma's protests, the request was granted with a short recess.
In his college years, Phoenix Wright went to Ivy University with his only intention of studying both art and law as his inspiration of becoming a lawyer himself. While doing this, he saw a topic in a newspaper with the headline titled "Dark Suspicions of a Demon Attorney". The article said that Miles Edgeworth was suspected of being responsible for tampering with witnesses and fabricating evidence. Edgeworth was being a ruthless prosecutor, which was unrecognizable from the Edgeworth that he really experienced from his early life. He attempted to contact Edgeworth but was rudely ignored. Mr. Wright chose that if he wants to be a lawyer, Edgeworth would have to meet him sooner or later in the official courtroom, and so he could save Edgeworth from known problems he solves.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney ". He met Professor Hershel Layton when he traveled to London with his assistant Maya and defended a client who was from another dimension/timeline, which was actually just an experiment, and after picking up her book, is transported there himself.
His naivety manifested itself mostly in his relationship with his girlfriend Dahlia Hawthorne. His behavior at this is somewhat comparable to that of his childhood friend Larry Butz, though the latter never really grew out of this behavior. Nonetheless, he was often considered the most mature out of all.
