Maya is 17 years old in the first game. Of course, she ages throughout the series, but she mainly stays around 17-18 years old. Maya originally was going to be studying law to join her sister in her law firm, but for some reason that fact was cut from the games.

Athena Cykes is a defense attorney working under Phoenix Wright at the Wright Anything Agency. She is a specialist in analytical psychology, which she studied in Europe, and has the special ability to pick up subtle emotions from witnesses' voices, which she can then examine using a program called the " Mood Matrix ".
Unfortunately for Phoenix, however, Athena ended up going to the wrong airport and fell asleep. By the time she returned, Justice was about to face off against Phoenix in a civil trial over an artifact called the Founder's Orb, much to her surprise. It eventually transpired that Phoenix was being blackmailed into taking the case, with his client, Paul Atishon, holding Phoenix's old friend Maya Fey hostage. Nonetheless, Justice managed to prove Atishon guilty of murder and won the trial, although Maya was still missing in Khura'in.
After she came to, Athena tried to wake her mother. In her childlike state of denial and still not quite understanding the difference between humans and robots, she had Ponco move Metis to the robot disassembly table, thinking the machinery would be able to "fix" her like it did the robots.
In a panic, Athena grabbed a utility knife and stabbed the man in the right hand. The masked man's blood splattered onto a moon rock. The intruder retaliated by kicking her, which knocked her unconscious, before fleeing the scene. After she came to, Athena tried to wake her mother.
Athena first met Phoenix Wright when he was in Europe studying their legal systems. He told her that her psychological abilities could help people, giving Athena the confidence she felt she needed to save Blackquill. Eventually, she finished her law studies and was invited to join the Wright Anything Agency .
She assisted Wright in going through Woods' testimony, and managed to undermine the prosecution's case. Court was soon adjourned for the day, so Wright, Athena, and Woods decided to check up on Justice, who was looking for more evidence in the ruins of the bombed Courtroom No. 4.

Ace Attorney is a series of adventure video game legal dramas developed by Capcom. The first entry in the series, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, was released in 2001; since then, five further main series games, as well as various spin-offs and high-definition remasters for newer game consoles, have been released.
The protagonist of the first three games is the defense attorney Phoenix Wright (Ryūichi Naruhodō in the Japanese version), who is assisted by the spirit medium Maya Fey; in the third game, Phoenix's mentor Mia Fey is also a playable character. In the fourth game, the protagonist is the defense attorney Apollo Justice; in the fifth, Phoenix, Apollo and the new defense attorney Athena Cykes are all protagonists; and in the sixth, Phoenix and Apollo are the main protagonists. The spin-off The Great Ace Attorney is set in England near the end of the 19th century, and follows Phoenix's ancestor Ryunosuke Naruhodo.
Maya was the first playable character other than Wright in the Ace Attorney series, as she is controlled briefly during Farewell, My Turnabout. Maya 's frequenting of Eldoon's noodle stand makes more sense in the Japanese version, as Maya 's favorite food was ramen in the original language version of the games.
The number of orbs on the necklaces of Fey clan members represents how far along in their training they are. In the original Ace Attorney trilogy, Maya wore four , the same as Pearl, but by the time of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice, this was increased to six.
Phoenix Wright, who had worked as Mia's understudy, defended Maya in court against the undefeated prosecutor Miles Edgeworth. However, first, he was told to find Grossberg and get him to defend Maya. Mia's old boss was being blackmailed by the true culprit of Mia's murder, so he refused the case.
Her outfit remained mostly the same in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice, albeit with the addition of a short white shawl around her shoulders and a longer hem that reaches her ankles. After the first game, Maya's outfit was seen on other acolytes of the Fey clan, most prominently Pearl Fey.
Assisting him was Athena Cykes, who had become an attorney to try to save Simon. Although Simon put the full force of his psychological tactics on display, Justice managed to pull off a spirited defense of his client, defeating Simon and proving Damian Tenma's innocence.
However, the trial was soon interrupted by the reactivation and detonation of a bomb that was to be used as evidence, leaving Courtroom No. 4 in ruins. Although Justice recovered, he abandoned the case, leaving Wright to take his place.
He dropped Athena off at the Cykes family residence and disposed of Ponco in the garbage chute at Boarding Lounge 1. Eventually, a Space Center staff member and two police officers discovered Metis's body, and Simon was arrested hours after the crime. In his prison cell.
The judge has appeared in all main series Ace Attorney games to date. In fact, the judge has appeared in the second most cases in the series as a whole with 24, after Phoenix Wright with 26. On a side note, Phoenix Wright is the only other character to have appeared in every main series Ace Attorney game.
The judge presided over his trial, with rookie defense attorney Apollo Justice representing Wright and veteran prosecutor Winston Payne prosecuting him. Although the case appeared to be a simple one at first, Wright soon turned the tables by accusing Justice's mentor and co-counsel, Kristoph Gavin, of the murder.
The judge appears in the fighting game Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 as one of Phoenix Wright's Level 1 Hyper Combos during "Courtroom Mode", Nightmare Judge, in which a shadowy giant version of himself (similar to his appearance in Wright's nightmare in The Lost Turnabout) appears while saying, "Order in the court!" He then smashes his gavel down on Wright and his opponent while saying, "Objection overruled!" While both battling characters are knocked down by this, only Wright's opponent takes damage, although Wright is knocked out of "Courtroom Mode" back to "Investigative Mode".
Ema Skye at 16. Ema has long brown hair that is styled similarly to Maya's, with a topknot or bun, two pieces draped over her shoulder and bangs on the front. Her eye color is inconsistent across different sprites, mugshots, and official artwork.
They found the victim's wallet; Ema told Wright to examine the wallet and other evidence "scientifically", from all angles, for clues. The next day, Ema gave Wright a bottle of luminol and told him to use it to find blood.
At the crime scene they used an atroquinine indicator to find traces of the poison on a small picture frame. They also used a special X-ray machine designed to see through objects to read two letters that had been sent to the Misham residence.
As a teenager, Ema wore a blue vest with gold buttons over a pink shirt, an ID card (only shown in sprites and certain concept art), a blue plaid skirt, a red bow on her chest, red stockings, red shoes, and a pink bag to hold her lab equipment. She also wore three button badges on her lab coat.
Two years after Vera Misham's trial, Ema finally secured her dream job as a forensic scientist. She once again encountered Justice (and also met his co-worker Athena Cykes) while investigating a death that had occurred at Trucy's magic show, and later testified during her subsequent murder trial for said death.
