On March 10, 2017, Jeff Sessions, who was appointed United States Attorney General by President Donald Trump, requested the resignations of 46 United States Attorneys. Some resignations were declined by Sessions or Trump.
By tradition, all U.S. Attorneys are asked to resign at the start of a new administration. The new President may elect to keep or remove any U.S. Attorney. They are traditionally replaced collectively only at the start of a new White House administration.
As head of the Department of Justice and chief legal counsel to the president, the duties of the attorney general are obviously important and wide reaching. The attorney general prosecutes cases that involve the government and gives advice to the president and heads of the executive departments when needed.

Nearly 2000 former Justice Department officials have signed onto a letter calling for Attorney General William Barr to resign over what they describe as his improper intervention in the criminal case of former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn.
Barr has said he supported dropping the charges based on a recommendation from the U.S. attorney from the Eastern District of Missouri Jeffrey Jensen, who was tasked by Barr with reviewing how FBI agents handled their interview of Flynn at the White House in January 2017. The keyword here is “former.”.
There was a plot at the top of the FBI to entrap Michael Flynn. Even when there was no evidence of Russian collusion, no evidence that he had lied to the FBI agents who interviewed him, or any evidence that would warrant speaking to Flynn as part of a counterintelligence probe, the FBI still went ahead with their heinous plan.
The 302 report on Flynn was changed and altered by those who weren’t even at the interview. That’s outside department policy, but the anti-Trump elements in DC wanted a scalp. The liberal media considered it nutty talk to suggest a conspiracy against Flynn. They’re wrong.
Lincoln was a wartime president who famously struggled to find generals that shared his strategic vision of victory. Obama also seems to be in search of generals who share his strategic vision.
And most recently, Lieutenant General Michael Flynn, who worked for McChrystal in Afghanistan, was forced out as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency for disagreeing with the administration’s overly rosy assessments of the Islamist terror threat.
Geraldo’s approach would also limit the role of Iranian-supported Shiite militias in the conflict, and Iranian influence as a whole. Actually, it is unlikely that the generals disagree much with Geraldo professionally, but are being stymied by the president.
