And if you have a beef with your current boss, won't be easy to move because they call your boss for recommendations. - Not much raise in salary even when you jump in your level. Expect to stay in the $50K range for a few years. - Stressful industry and work life balance is impossible without team support.
2) Growth opportunities - they offer career path guidance. It's hard to say at this time, but BAL does seem to try and keep its employees happy.
No divorce is easy. I would venture to say some are more difficult than others. In an emotional time, I had the presence of mind to make the best decision in hiring Ms. Nupur Bal to represent me. Ms.
Nupur and her office staff were very helpful in guiding me through my divorce in the most efficient and peaceful way, while providing strong advocacy on my behalf. I highly recommend Nupur, her paralegal and other staff in her office.
After 30 years of marriage, it was difficult to know where to turn when I was faced with divorce. I had no prior experience with the legal ins and outs associated with a difficult and emotional process.
Nupur resolved my divorce case in record time. She settled my case amicably with a very difficult opposing counsel. She was always available for any of my questions and concerns. Her legal assisstant Dottie is so knowledgeable and available as well. If you want your divorce settled quickly and efficiently please call Nupur!
Hiring a lawyer is one of those things you always hope you will not need to do, so when the day came that I needed one I consulted with Nupur after finding her here on Avvo. Nupur helped explain the process that was so foreign to me in a way that helped me understand and make it through to the other side in a much better place.
Ms. Bal will forever hold a place in our lives as someone that cared as much about our grandson as if he were her own. She is a compassionate listener, abundantly knowledgeable, holds to a moral high ground and is always honest in her perception of how the facts are going to play out in court.
After 31 years of marriage, I had a nasty contested divorce case that lasted over 7 years. I had two lawyers before I retained Ms. Nupur Bal; they did not do much in my case, especially my 2nd lawyer who cost me thousands of dollars and all I got was a lot of stress and some emails for a whole year. That lawyer made no progress.
BAL is an example of a company where the top leadership are disconnected from the reality of everyday life at the company.
The bad part about working as a law clerk is that there is no continuity to be hired on as an attorney after you obtain your license. The firm will sometimes hire outsiders before people who are currently working.
Pros: The building and decor are nice. There was pre-covid happy hours. You have great co-workers. They managed COVID really well! Great benefits . Equity partners try their best to listen to concerns and requests.
BAL is not great place to start your early career. You don’t want to get an idea that all firms are like this. They will overwork you regularly especially during the H-1B CAP season. I remember I used to leave at around 9 pm - 10 pm. No appreciation from the upper management. It’s like this is somewhat a normal routine which isn’t. But I did make good friends while working here. They still have a lot to fix.
The unfavor able and negative reviews about BAL are true. The training seems to consist of expecting new employees ask questions when they are confused. With training system, it is extremely hard to gain confidence in your skills and job performance. The management makes a big deal out of mistakes without recognizing that you were never properly trained to avoid it.
No work-life balance but a few nice co-workers. The workload can be very heavy and I believe your success with the firm depends on which team you are assigned to.
BAL was a fun place to work and it was always busy. Just beware of the Facilities lady. She talks bad about everyone, including her own supervisors & CEO's. She lies and has been known to threaten her help. She does not like manual labor and forces her assistance to do most of the work, they don't last long due to her demeanor. She takes long lunches & adjusts her time. She does not respect the employees. All other employees in other departments are very nice, respectful and easy to get along with. They are helpful and generous.
