As a licensed attorney, I feel the need to point out a few concerns about using legal document management software or online legal forms. Some of my major concerns are:
I’ve had my share of experience in using various types of document management software; I’ve even written a few reviews on some of these products. But as a licensed attorney, I’m pretty much always going to advise seeking legal assistance from a lawyer for any legal problem.

On September 24, 2019, LegalZoom announced that Daniel Wernikoff became the new CEO replacing John Suh who served as CEO for 12 years. Under John Suh's leadership, the company grew twenty-five-fold from 2004 to 2019. After the transition, John Suh worked as a Senior Advisor to the company.
LegalZoom is not a law firm. The employees of LegalZoom do not perform legal services directly. Instead, LegalZoom helps consumers grow their businesses, care for their families, and protect their ideas in two distinct ways.
The top competitors of LegalZoom also provide document preparation services. Legal zoom also provides prepaid legal plans that offer unlimited 30-minute consultations on new legal matters for one low monthly fee.
Because LegalZoom is not a lawyer’s office, you’re not getting the guidance and expertise of a lawyer even though you’re still paying ridiculous prices for their services. LegalZoom sounds appealing and easy but will end up likely costing you a lot of time and money you could have saved by just going to a real lawyer.
On LegalZoom’s website, it says that ‘Legal help is here.’. However, it later goes on to describe that ‘we are not a law turn or a substitute for an attorney or law firm.’. LegalZoom’s website is intentionally misleading.
LegalZoom is not even close to being as good as a lawyer. On LegalZoom’s website, their information portal has a disclaimer that the information provided is ‘not guaranteed to be correct, completely, or up to date.’.
According to the LegalZoom website, filing the paperwork to start a LLC is as simple as: 1 Answer a few easy questions in as little as 15 minutes 2 Wait for LegalZoom staff to assemble all necessary documents and file them directly 3 Receive a complete LLC package by mail
Using LegalZoom will probably save aspiring business owners lots of time and could potentially save them money. As a company, LegalZoom has a stellar 15 year history of success with clients. The website is extremely user friendly, and customer service reviews are generally very positive. However, LegalZoom is not an adequate substitute for legal representation and cannot offer the same protections provided by an authorized business attorney.
