In general, County Courts, sometimes called "the people's courts", are courts of limited jurisdiction where minor criminal (misdemeanor) and civil cases are heard. In the Circuit Courts, which are the highest state trial courts in Florida, major criminal (felony), civil, family, juvenile and probate matters are heard.

The Clerk's Self Help Center provides low-cost legal assistance in family law, small claims and residential eviction cases.
The Clerk’s Self Help Center is designed to provide legal assistance to Orange County citizens who are representing themselves before the court and do not have a private attorney. It is the first of its kind in our community to help people who either don’t have a lawyer or cannot afford one.
The Self Help Center offers assistance to customers in completing court forms, filing documents electronically and providing access to contracted attorneys at an affordable price. Other services available at the Self Help Center are printing, copying, notary and general consultations.
The Center focuses on assisting customers with Family Law (excluding injunctions), Small Claims, Landlord-Tenant and Eviction cases.
Family Law consists of alimony, child custody/visitation, child support, contempt, divorce, name change, paternity, step-parent adoption, support unconnected with dissolution of marriage and temporary custody.
Attorney consultations are set by appointment and must be for a minimum of 15 minutes, charged at $1.00 a minute. Consultations may not exceed more than one hour at one time within a day. You will need a credit card in order to schedule the consultation online.
If you do not have access to a computer or smart device at home, you can come to the Self Help Center's two locations to schedule an appointment in person or use a customer computer in room 340.

When the attachment or links in the email are opened, a malicious program is launched that infects the recipient's computer. Unless you are actively involved in a case in a Florida court, and have consented to receive court notifications electronically, you generally will not be served court documents electronically.
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) is warning consumers that they may be targeted by a company representing itself as the DHSMV demanding payment for fraudulent citations. The company, which is not associated with the DHSMV in any way, will send emails to consumers requesting payment of a citation within a certain timeframe and if the payment is not received on time, the company will falsely require a daily late fee payment.
The Office of the State Courts Administrator has learned of an email scam, in which emails purporting to come from state courts are attempting to infect recipients with computer viruses. These emails are instructing recipients to report for a hearing on a specified date and time.
