The clerk's office independently confirms the attorney's standing with the appropriate state supreme court. Submission of a certificate of good standing is not required. Once your application to practice in this district is approved, a certificate of admission will be mailed to you.
Any attorney who is a member in good standing of the Washington State Bar is eligible for admission to practice in the Western District of Washington. Certificates of Good Standing can be ordered from the Clerk's Office for $20.00/each.
Please contact the chambers of the appropriate judge to schedule the admission ceremony. All papers must be on file with the Clerk for 14 days prior to admission. The admission fee is due after attorney is admitted and will not be accepted in advance of the admission ceremony.
To obtain a certificate of good standing, please submit a letter request that includes a check for the appropriate fee as noted in the fee schedule (made out to the Clerk of Court) and a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Requests can be mailed to either city:
