Jacksonville State Attorney Melissa Nelson, who ousted an incumbent in 2016, filed Wednesday for re-election to the role of elected prosecutor over Duval, Clay and Nassau counties. Nelson, a Republican, won the office in a three-way race in a closed primary in August of 2016, earning 64 percent of the vote.
