The court will remain open for Protective Orders Petitions and Hearings, all In-Custody Hearings, and any essential hearings mandated by law to require in-person appearance or where remote appearance is not feasible.
Scottsdale City Court extends virtual appearances to Civil Traffic Hearings. Using software such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, the Court allows both the State and also the Defendant to appear remotely before the Judicial Officer. A $17 Record Request Fee will be applied to all records requests ( A.R.S. 22-404 ).
All copy requests are subject to a $0.50 per page fee ( A.R.S. 22-404 ).
In addition to any applicable Minimum Clerk Fees and Copy Fees, a $17 Certification Fee will be charged on each request for certification.
A copy of an audio CD for court proceedings, if available, may be made for a fee of $17 for each CD.
Please do not submit pre-payment for records requests. You will be contacted when the records request is complete and given the amount due.
The case should resolve within three or four pretrial hearings over a four-month period. If it does not, the judge will often set if for trial.
You do not need to wear a suit and tie to Scottsdale Court. However, use common sense and dress appropriately to show respect to the judge and court staff. You never know what a good impression can do for your case. It is recommended that “Business Casual” is worn such as a dress shirt, polo shirt, slacks or nice jeans. Few judges have banned cell phones in the courtroom. Most allow cell phones to be used but ask that the phones are turned to silent/vibrate.
The Scottsdale City Court is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The court is closed on certain holidays. If you believe that you have an upcoming court date on a holiday, call the court to make sure whether it is open.
In the Chandler City court system, the Defendant will face jail time for DUI while fines and fees can vary enormously. Scottsdale City Court handles any tickets issued by the Scottsdale City Police. Scottsdale City Court also handles misdemeanor traffic cases, other misdemeanor criminal cases, code violation cases, and protective orders.
For a photo enforcement ticket, the defendant typically does not need to ever appear in court; an attorney can appear for them. For criminal traffic tickets, we can typically either appear in court for our clients or arrange for an appearance by telephone. The one exception is for a trial. For a trial, the defendant needs to be present.
