It never HURTS a case to PAY the lawyer. Your lawyer will need an investigator, maybe expert witnesses. the lawyer may have to compel attendance of some witnesses, which costs money, and certainly a psychologist and / or jury selection expert, will be needed. These things are expensive, and yet, indispensable to both your lives now.
With the exception of a family or friends I cannot imagine there are going to be many who contribute to a fund related to defending someone against a child indecency charge...Your husband would have to reveal too many details… That absolutely could get him in trouble. On what grounds does she want it shut down. As long as these are gifts or loans and there is the return of the money if a loan is not dependent up or down on the outcome of the litigation there is not an issue.
