He served as an attorney in AJS’s Anticorruption Legal Assistance Center project, where he worked closely with prosecutors. He led and helped with the investigation of some of the biggest corruption cases in Honduras ’ history. He worked hard to ensure individuals who were involved in these corruption cases to be convicted— cases that have helped instill a greater sense of hope among Honduran citizens by demonstrating that justice can prevail over corruption. While working for AJS, he decided to obtain a Certificate in Tax Research for Public Advocacy in February 2013. He also pursued his Master in Business and Environmental Law and graduated in March 2014 as top of his class at UNITEC in Honduras. After his successful roll as a corruption attorney, he was promoted to serve as sub-coordinator at the Alliance for Peace and Justice, and was part of the team that presented important policy proposals to the government. This advocacy role has led to significant policy changes in the Honduran Security Department sector. Following his dreams and after working hard helping his country, he decided to continue his career preparation and move to Oklahoma in 2015. In Oklahoma he obtained a LL.M. a Masters of Laws in Oil and Gas and Natural Resources at OU (Oklahoma University) and graduated on May 2017. Joel sat for the Texas Bar and became licensed in November 2017. Since then he moved to Dallas and practices as a Personal Injury attorney.
