Tom Robinson is innocent, but everyone thinks he's guilty. It is the lawyer's. This make as much sense as asking if doctors believe in God or if musicians believe in God. The answer is that generally, one's profession has no bearing on their religion.
Feb 13, 2018 · 1. I must have prayed for something like 25 or 30 years. Not one single prayer was ever answered. “The bottom line for me is this. If God isn’t prepared to answer prayers in a very concrete way, i.e (Hey, God, I don’t have a job or I don’t have money to pay the rent), then s/he is less than useless to me. I see absolutely no reason ...

Aug 03, 2017 · One of the peculiar sins of the twentieth century which we’ve developed to a very high level is the sin of credulity. It has been said that when human beings stop believing in God they believe in nothing. The truth is much worse: they believe in anything. Western atheism has its roots in ancient Greek philosophy, but did not emerge as a distinct world-view until the late Enlightenment. The 5th-century BCE Greek philosopher Diagoras is known as the "first atheist", and strongly criticized religion and mysticism.

Madalyn Murray's lawsuit, Murray v. Curlett, contributed to the removal of compulsory Bible reading from the public schools of the United States, and has had lasting and significant effects.

Vitale. School-sponsored prayer in public schools is unconstitutional.
One of the most famous arguments that a believer uses after something bad has happened to them is that God moves in mysterious ways. It doesn’t really matter what happens, as every situation can get twisted around to make is seem that God is always present and controls everything.
There are two main types of people who don’t believe in God – atheists (i.e. the people who don’t believe in the existence of any deities) and people who believe in some sort of life force or spirit, but don’t identify with any religion.
The most notable example of when science replaced a very popular religious belief is Darwin’s theory of evolution. This theory suggests that all life on this planet has descended from a common ancestor. In other words, complex creatures came to existence thanks to them evolving from more simplistic ones.
In fact, most of the scientists spent their days trying to come up with experiments that would prove the existence of things like the soul, the metaphysical, and God.
Now, despite what some atheists think, certain religious beliefs can be (and were) tested. As a matter of fact, there is an organization called the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry, which was founded by famous scientists, science writers, and academics that does an amazing job of testing all unusual claims.
We can all agree that religion as an idea was born way before modern science. So, let’s compare how much evidence religion and science have gathered about our existence on this planet and what controls the flow of occurrences on Earth and the visible universe. The latter has made very noticeable contributions , while religion doesn’t point to any evidence that would verify the existence of the almighty God, a deity that controls everything.
There are many scientific methods to prove a theory or at least make it the most probable, but people have yet to find a method to decide which interpretation of a sacred text should be followed. All a religious person can do is carefully read a sacred text and point out their interpretation.
His primary goal for one required class was to spend the entire semester attempting to prove that God couldn’t exist. His students were always afraid to argue with him because of his impeccable logic.
Santa Barbara, California, and a telling of it in a 1977 book places the event as happening in 1920s Pennsylvania.
(Chalk is mentioned in one telling of the tale, a glass beaker is the subject in Richard Harvey’s book, and an egg is mentioned in another version of the story.) Though this sighting gives a better idea how old the tale is, it fails to validate the legend.
In his version, the antagonist is said to be one Dr. Lee, a revered chemistry professor. Dr.
Dr. Lee was a Christian, but one who subscribed to the “benevolent caretaker” theory of God (that God created the universe and set it in motion but has been hands-off ever since) and thus did not believe that praying to Him affected anything.
Sometimes when people describe themselves as secular Jews, they mean they’re unaffiliated and uninvolved — i.e. they don’t belong to a synagogue or partake in the larger organized Jewish world.
Being a secular rabbi also offers other opportunities. Because we do not feel bound to follow rules out of a sense of faith or belief, we can make our own rules.
Because we do not feel bound to follow rules out of a sense of faith or belief, we can make our own rules. That has led to great experimentation and participation in our communities, showing how people can create Jewish practices and rituals that serve them as our complex world continues to shift.
These Jews (and their partners and families) deserve communal spaces and spiritual leadership who do not wish them to be something they’re not. In short, they need leaders who will not make them feel like they’re “bad Jews.”.
