HOUSTON -- Authorities say an intoxicated Dallas woman who was on a first date with a prominent Houston trial lawyer caused at least $300,000 in damage to his art collection, including two Andy Warhol paintings. Authorities said she tore down several paintings and poured red wine on some while yelling obscenities.
Buzbee said Layman refused to leave and hid inside the home, and that when he found her and called a second Uber, she got aggressive.
Prosecutors say Buzbee told investigators the 29-year-old Layman became belligerent and that she shattered two $20,000 sculptures and poured wine on paintings, including two Andy Warhol works each valued at $500,000.
23 incident in the home of attorney Tony Buzbee.
Justin Keiter, Layman's attorney, said Tuesday his client is a "great person" and they "disagree with Mr. Buzbee's rendition of the facts." He declined to give an alternate version of what happened, saying he's saving it for the courtroom.
According to the AP, the journalist flew into a rage when Buzbee found her, and proceeded to tear down paintings with her hands and poured wine on some of them. She also allegedly threw two $20,000 sculptures across the room.
Buzbee hosted President Donald Trump at his home for a presidential campaign fundraiser in 2016. In 2010, he donated $3.5 million worth of exotic cars to a nonprofit social services agency.
