The County Attorney is the legal advisor to the Board of Supervisors and every officer whose compensation is paid from County funds in all matters involving an official act of a civil nature.
The Child Protection Branch provides consultation and state program guidance for child protective services cases. Central office staff helps develop standards of practice for inclusion in the state manual and provides real-time guidance to cases as required by field personnel.
The County Attorney is elected to serve as legal adviser for Fiscal Court. The County Attorney’s Department prosecutes misdemeanors and oversees the recovery of money through its Bad Check Division. The department’s Child Support Division works with the courts and parents to insure that children receive support when parents are divorced or separated.
The Office of the County Attorney's statutory responsibilities are to represent the legal interests of the government and to prosecute District Court Cases. Personal issues that effect every citizen of Warren County: Fiscal Court, child support, domestic issues, school/juvenile justice, driving privileges, etc.
