Phoenix has only had one girlfriend in his life: Dahlia Hawthorne. And that was basically the textbook definition of “unhealthy relationship.” Phoenix became dangerously obsessed with her, she tried to kill him, and he was secretly in love with her sister the whole time.
Early brainstorming suggestions for Phoenix's name included "Cole" and "Wilton", but "Phoenix" was chosen as a name that would "stand out". The nickname "Nick" (used by his partner, Maya Fey) was chosen based on its believability and similarity to the sound of "Phoenix".

In many ways, Iris is what Dahlia merely pretended to be. She is meek and polite to a fault, and has been manipulated multiple times into haphazardly assisting in various crimes, mostly by her twin sister and once by Godot.
He began wearing a special visor over his eyes that enabled him to see, although it was limited in that he could not see red on a white background. Considering his old self to have "died," he took on the new name "Godot".

Maya was the first playable character other than Wright in the Ace Attorney series, as she is controlled briefly during Farewell, My Turnabout. Maya 's frequenting of Eldoon's noodle stand makes more sense in the Japanese version, as Maya 's favorite food was ramen in the original language version of the games.
The number of orbs on the necklaces of Fey clan members represents how far along in their training they are. In the original Ace Attorney trilogy, Maya wore four , the same as Pearl, but by the time of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice, this was increased to six.
From then on, Maya would use her psychic powers to channel Mia's spirit to help Wright when he needed it, though her powers were weak at first and she was able to summon Mia only for short periods at a time.
Sometime after her trial, Maya was kidnapped by Khura'in's Justice Minister, Inga Karkhuul Khura'in, with her safety being used to force Phoenix Wright to help Paul Atishon obtain the Holy Mother relic known as the Founder's Orb. Although Dhurke Sahdmadhi attempted to rescue her, he ended up getting shot three times before scaring Inga away. Maya, pleading for him not to die, was given two tasks by the dying Sahdmadhi: one was to channel him so that he could break her free of her bindings, and the second was to travel to the United States and channel him in order to allow him to see and talk to his adopted son, Apollo Justice, one final time. Maya was also told to keep Sahdmadhi's death a secret from Justice.
Her outfit remained mostly the same in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice, albeit with the addition of a short white shawl around her shoulders and a longer hem that reaches her ankles. After the first game, Maya's outfit was seen on other acolytes of the Fey clan, most prominently Pearl Fey.
Maya Fey is the Master of the Kurain Channeling Technique and , subsequently, the head of the Fey clan. A close friend of defense attorney Phoenix Wright, she was his primary assistant for the majority of his career between the years 2016 and 2019, mainly by participating in his investigations and providing co-counseling duties during trials. by Alex Donaldson on 04 April, 2019. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is one of the all-time great visual novel mystery style games, and it's had quite the journey. It began life as a Japan-only Game Boy Advance title, then found huge success worldwide on Nintendo DS. Since then it's travelled all over - mobile, Wii, 3DS - and now it's back, ...
It's a dramatic opening to the trial, and once you have control again, Ema is on the stand.
Phoenix arrives at the detention center and Maya asks if he will be her lawyer. You will be given three choices to select from, but it doesn't matter what you choose since the dialogue will link up at a similar point, but choose It's up to you anyway. Phoenix tells her that picking a lawyer is something that Maya should decide for herself. She felt more down. She doesn't think anyone would believe her, and tells him that he looked as if she had done it, back in the office. Moving along, Maya tells Phoenix that she had heard of him from her sister before. It was on the phone call before the murder that Mia narrates the story of Phoenix's first trial to her sister. She told her it was quite a spectacular trial and she was anxious the whole time. But she thought Phoenix is a great attorney and that the only thing he's lacking is experience. After being told what Mia thought of him, Phoenix decides that he can't just sit and watch as Mia's death might not be given justice and talks to Mia to gather information.
Gumshoe introduces himself and informs Phoenix that they received a report from the building across the office. Someone apparently witnessed the murder, which is surely the lady in pink. Gumshoe instructs Phoenix and Maya not to move, when suddenly the detective screams. He asks Maya if the word written on the receipt has any relevance to her, and she tells him it's her name. He says that the victim drew the note with her own blood (i.e. she wrote down the killer's name,) and instantly arrests Maya and brings her to the precinct. Phoenix was also taken in for questioning and got out the next morning. He waited for visiting hours to begin at the detention center so he could talk to Maya as soon as possible.
Spirit mediums: Phoenix engages in a conversation about acolytes. Maya relates that the Fey Family, especially the women, have always been very sensitive to the spirit world, and that includes Mia, to Phoenix's disbelief. Mia left the mountain to follow her career, even though her powers were first-class.
Grossberg says it's his pride and joy, brags about its hefty worth and tells Phoenix he has no intention of parting with it. At this point, 'Move' back to the Detention Center to inform Maya about the lawyer's refusal.
Phoenix confirms that it is blood he smells, and detects someone. He sees the still body of his chief and another girl beside her, crying. He then tries to talk to the mysterious girl until she passes out, then leaves her on the sofa to go back to Mia. He checks Mia by her shoulder and notices her body is still warm, until all too quickly she turned cold. Your first investigation will now commence.
Phoenix arrives late at their office, and smells something that seems blood. You will have the option to either 'Examine' or 'Move'. Don't bother choosing Examine for now since it won't do anything anyway, and 'Move to Office', instead. Phoenix confirms that it is blood he smells, and detects someone.
Phoenix Wright | Age: 23, Gender: Male The defense attorney of this case.
I think that’s why she was killed off: so that she couldn’t act as Phoenix’s safety net throughout the rest of the series. Of course, she sometimes ended up doing that anyway, thanks to Maya and Pearl channeling her spirit so often, but not as often as she otherwise might. If she’d lived, the writers would likely have had to keep inventing excuses for why Mia was unable to attend any
In the Ace Attorney world, the lawyers go out into crime scenes themselves, picking up evidence themselves while law enforcement awkwardly tries to keep people out of areas. Phoenix often finds major pieces overlooked (like a camera in a teddy bear or a discarded firearm in a vent.) Reports are unfinished and updated through the trial. Falsification of evidence also looms a lot. Nothing like this would fly in the real world, even in the Japanese criminal justice system.
Gumshoe arrives at the hospital and arrests Maya because he saw the “Maya" written on the receipt (he's already been at the scene of the crime because of April May's call) Mia wakes up hours later and tells Phoenix that Maya is innocent. Phoenix becomes Maya's defense attorney after Grossberg declines.
The trials bear no resemblance to actual court sessions, either. There’s a rule in the Phoenix Wright courts: three days to find a verdict. A person arrested in the Ace Attorney is put on trial and they must be found guilty or innocent in three days. That simply does not happen… at least, in the United States. Japan is a bit different—within 48 hours, the police must present evidence to a prosecutor and then the prosecutor must produce a case for the just in 24 hours after that. We can see the parallels in this, but a verdict isn’t reached in that amount of time.
In the Ace Attorney games, objections are used to point out contradictions in witness testimony. In a US court of law, an objection is usually used to disallow a question by the opposing attorney. In a way, they have opposite purposes: in Ace Attorney, the idea is to draw attention to the witness’s statement, and in a real court, the idea is to prevent a statement from being made at all.
Probably the Ini Miney/ Morgan case would have been the key to Phoenix knowing her better, as opposed to that first case. Likewise, Pearly would have been watched over by Maya and not as much around as she is.
The Paynes and to a lesser extent, Klavier Gavin, would have gone over the patronizing route. Ugh.
