Gyakuten Kenji 2, unofficially known as Ace Attorney Investigations 2, is an adventure video game developed by Capcom. It was released in Japan for the Nintendo DS in 2011 and for Android and iOS in 2017.
Ace Attorney Investigations 2 takes place eight days after Ace Attorney Investigations, and features the same three main characters: prosecutor Miles Edgeworth; detective Dick Gumshoe; and teenage thief Kay Faraday.

The roadmap appears to suggest that Ace Attorney 7 entered pre-production back in 2019, with the main production starting in 2020 and leading into 2021. During a flight on Flight I-390, flight attendant Rhoda Teneiro received the receipt upon buying a suitcase. She later gave it to Edgeworth, who used it to prove that fellow flight attendant Cammy Meele was not in the attendant's room between 5 and 6 AM.
In the rebuttal phases, a witness or a rival character provides their idea of what has happened. The player is able to press them for details, and can present relevant pieces of evidence that contradict what the witness or rival is saying. By doing this, the player gets closer to the truth; it is through confronting suspects during these phases that the player solves the cases. Upon solving a case, the episode is cleared and a new episode is made available to the player. If the player makes mistakes throughout the game, such as presenting wrong pieces of evidence, attempting to connect two thoughts that do not match up, or making incorrect choices, a green gauge called the Truth Gauge decreases, representing Edgeworth getting further from the truth. If it is completely emptied, the game ends. By clearing an investigation phase, half of the gauge is restored, and by clearing an episode, the gauge is restored completely.
During investigation phases, players control Edgeworth directly, either with the D-pad, or by sliding the map that is displayed on the bottom screen. The player has Edgeworth walk around crime scenes in search for evidence; they also meet witnesses and suspects during these phases, who they can talk to. As Edgeworth notices various things in the crime scene, they are saved as Edgeworth's thoughts. Using the "logic" function, the player can connect two such thoughts to gain new information; for instance, by connecting two bullet holes with a gun that has only been fired once, Edgeworth will conclude that two guns must have been at the crime scene. At some points, the player is able to control a cursor to examine parts of the crime scene; by using the "deduction" function at these points, the player is able to point out a contradiction between the crime scene and evidence. If the player successfully points out a contradiction, they gain access to new information. In the first case, Turnabout Visitor, Edgeworth finds the dead body of Detective Buddy Faith in his office. He learns that the murderer was Jacques Portsman , a prosecutor who was working for the smuggling ring, and was trying to steal evidence from the murder ten years ago from Edgeworth's office; when Faith got too close, Portsman killed him. The fifth case, Turnabout Ablaze, takes place at the former Cohdopian embassy; civil tension in Cohdopia forced the country to split into Allebahst and Babahl, which share the same embassy building. The two countries planned to announce their reunification at the embassy when the fake Yatagarasu appeared, setting fire to the building and killing two people. The bodies are found at the embassies' respective offices; one of them is discovered to be the former secretariat of the Cohdopian embassy, who now was the secretariat for Babahl. Shih-na is revealed to be Calisto in disguise; she insists that she did not murder the secretariat, and is revealed to be an accessory to the crime. As she is taken away, she reveals that she is not Cece's sister, that "Calisto" was just an alias she took while working for the smuggling ring, and that she became part of Yatagarasu on orders from the ring's leader. Edgeworth reveals the ring's leader to be Allebahst's and formerly Cohdopia's ambassador Quercus Alba, who had committed murders and covered the tracks of the ring, and brought counterfeit money into Zheng Fa. Alba, Amano and others are convicted of their crimes, while Edgeworth and his companions recommit to their vows to defend the truth.

A new gameplay mechanic, "logic chess", is used during investigations when a character refuses to testify. The player interrogates them, which is visualized as a game of chess, with the player aiming to destroy the other character's chess pieces. To do this, they need to build up their advantage in the discussion by alternating between speaking and listening; when the player believes they have the advantage, they can choose to go on the offensive. The logic chess sections are timed, with the player having to make decisions before the timer bar has decreased all the way. The player takes damage if they make wrong choices, and the logic chess opponents get more difficult throughout the game.
The gameplay is divided into two types of phases: investigations, where the player searches the crime scene for evidence and talks to witnesses, and rebuttals, where they aim to find contradictions in witnesses' testimonies using the evidence found during the investigations.
On its initial release week, Ace Attorney Investigations 2 was the top-selling game in Japan across all platforms, selling more than 132,000 units. This was lower than the first Ace Attorney Investigations, which sold 172,000 copies during its opening week.
The development team, which included director Takeshi Yamazaki, producer Motohide Eshiro and character designer Tatsuro Iwamoto, created the game for the series' tenth anniversary, and finalized its direction during a five-day stay in the Capcom Manor in 2010.

However, I will defend AAI-4 Edgeworth, even if my memory is iffy in some places. In AAI-4, Edgeworth does want to figure out the truth, however he's only doing that because he's fueled by perfection. He wants to make sure that when the defendant goes to court, he has a flawless plan the defence can't poke any holes into, because he wants everything in court to be perfect. When he sees that Gumshoe is the defendant, this bumbling oaf that acts and seems like an idiot (no offense to Gumshoe), he has doubts and sees that as imperfect. So he investigates further to find a perfect argument, that perfect argument is well, the truth. I think when he does genuinely care about finding the truth regardless of perfection is when he finds out Kay was the victim's child, which he can relate to on a personal level, even then he's not above making a child cry to get the truth.
Point 1 - Edgeworth in AAI/AAI2 is an idealised depiction of the character, who has no flaws in any way. Point 2 - It's unreasonable that Gumshoe idolises Edgeworth since he treats him like shit consistently throughout the two games.

With Gumshoe and Kay in the Investigations games, I tend not to view his relationships with them as genuine flaws of his presented character because his awful treatment of Gumshoe is near-universally treated as a joke and summarily skimmed past, while Edgeworth is just consistently neutral at best toward Kay, who somehow comes to like and respect him based on frowning indifference.
No matter what is happening, Edgeworth remains exactly as stone-faced and unemotional as ever, and by all appearances, continually treats the events unfolding around him like some inconvenient melodrama he barely feels any connection to whatsoever. He speaks with the exact same high-and-mighty, above-it-all tone that might otherwise be reserved for when he's standing confidently in court, without so much as a hint of the emotional vulnerability that he displays in the main series whenever something has left him concerned or uncomfortable, or when someone he's come to care about is in danger.
